Saving the Soul of Medicine - An intimate journey with Dr. Mahony during the last year of her participation in managed health care.  Excerpts from her journal express the heart and soul of an anguished physician.  Dismayed by the lack of understanding about the true impact of changes brought on by 'managed care,' she collected stories and viewpoints from her patients which dramatically capture their feelings and opinions about the new health care model.

'It is a call to get the hands of insurance companies and HMO managers out of our pockets and those of our patients.' - Dr. David Spiegel, M.D., Professor & Associate Chair, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine and the Co-author of Group Therapy for Cancer Patients.

'A book that every patient and health care provider can benefit from.' - Dr. Bernie Siegel, M.D., Author of Love, Medicine & Miracles and Prescription For Living.

'. . . Dr. Margaret Mahony questions whether medical care can be 'managed' as if it were an investment portfolio.' - Dr. Larry Dossey, M.D., Author of Reinventing Medicine and Healing Words.
